In the mid-18th century, English potters had not succeeded in making hard-paste porcelain (as made in East Asia and Meissen porcelain) but found bone ash a useful addition to their soft-paste porcelain mixtures, giving strength. This became standard at the Bow porcelain factory in London (operating from around 1747), and spread to some other English factories.
Developed by English potter Josiah Spode, bone china is known for its high levels of whiteness and translucency, and very high mechanical strength and chip resistance.
Bone china is almost the surrogate of English china.

Every bone chine figure was modeled from a real person.
Here are a few from the collection.
The Balloon Man是Royal Daulton, 靈魂級設計師 Leslie Harradine的經典作品之一

The Balloon Man
I made a song named "The Balloon Man" out of this poem, using the famous 'Scarborough Fair' music.

Lyrics generated from Rose Fyleman's poem " The Balloon Man" by the Big shot & Yihuajiemu
He always comes on market days,
holds balloons a lovely bunch
And in the market square he stays,
never seems to think of lunch.
red and purple, blue and green,
And when it's a sunny day
Tho' carts and people get between
You see them shining far away.
some are big and some are small,
tied together with a string,
And if there is a wind at all
They tug and tug like anything.
Some day perhaps he'll let them go
we shall see them sailing high,
And stand and watch them from below -
They'd look pretty in the sky !
HE always comes on market days,
holds balloons a lovely bunch
And in the market square he stays,
never seems to think of lunch.
The moods and thoughts of man are revolving just as steadily and incessantly as nature’s. Nothing must be postponed. Take time by the forelock. Now or never! You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment. Fools stand on their island opportunities and look toward another land. There is no other land; there is no other life but this, or the like of this.
“This curious world we inhabit is more wonderful than convenient; more beautiful than it is useful; it is more to be admired and enjoyed than used.”
