The Galileo spacecraft took this composite imageon December 07, 1992 on its way to explore the Jupiter system in 1995-97.  The color is “enhanced” in the sense that theCCD camera is sensitive to near infrared wavelengths of light beyond humanvision.




The lunar phase depends on the Moon's positionin orbit around Earth. This diagram looks down on the North pole.
