Carrefour Takes on Wal-Mart in China

Wal-Mart is tnhe number one retailer in the world.

Who is number two? 

Answer: Carrefour of Paris.

Which company is biggest in China?

Wal-Mart...wrong. Carrefour is bigger.

Carrefour has 79 stores in 32 Chinese cities compared to Wal-mart's 60 locations in 30 cities.

Carrefour sold nearly twice as much as Wal-Mart - $2.2 billion to $1.2 billion.

Carrefour seems to be more adept at adapting to local cultures...their supply chain includes 18-wheel trucks as well as three-wheel tricycles.
