There is one sport and one location where Adidas can kick the tar out of Nike .
The sport is soccer and the location is Asia.
Nike has a 38% of the branded footwear market compare to a 34% share held by Adidas. This has much to do with Adidas' purchase of Reebok .
Still, Adidas has passed up Nike overall in Japan.
Nike kicks Adidas butt in the US but outside of the States, it's 31-28, Nike. Sounds like a different kind of football score, eh?
Adidas took the lead from Nike after sponsoring the 2002 Japan national team in the 2002 World Cup .
Adidas also seems to slipped ahead of Nike in offering "lifestyle footwear" once again...in Japan.
There is yet one other market where Adidas is growing faster than Nike...China!
