Is Hong Kong Better or Worse Since 1997?

The Committee of 100 survey that I have mentioned here in the past asked the question of the American general public and American opinion leaders -

Is Hong Kong better or worse since the 1997 handover?

About one in five of the general public think it is better (I wonder how many of them have been there....) whereas one in six of the opinion leaders thought Hong Kong was better off.
