昨天我在美語壇讀到了海外逸士英譯的《山行》,好喜歡杜牧的這首詩,帶給我美好的記憶,我想起了嶽麓山,愛晚亭,湘江,親戚好友同事。
記得在國內,每當秋天來臨時,嶽麓山的楓葉層林盡染了。我就和好友騎著自行車去嶽麓山賞秋,我們穿過鬧市,踏上湘江大橋,一直到嶽麓山底,放下自行車,就開始登山了。
樹上的楓葉,在陽光的照射下,紅的是如此的亮麗,地上灑落著葉子。我們走著笑著,好不開心。
今天在美國的家中想起從前往事,恍若隔世,卻又清晰如昨。當時年輕的我,如今是為人妻,做人母了。可謂是:山依舊,人不同。徑尤在,心永恒。
又及: 自從美語壇於2007年初創建以來,海外逸士一直和美語壇的網友們分享他撰寫的英詩和翻譯。我讀了他的許多的翻譯作品,不僅了解了許多的古詩,也學習了英語翻譯。
我還不時地問海外逸士問題,他總是不嚴其煩地給我回複,深表感謝。下麵是我給海外逸士的一些提問,和他的回複,茲錄如下。
我的提問:
1。海外逸士,您是什麽時候開始翻譯古詩的?
2。您覺得翻譯累嗎?您是如何堅持不懈的翻譯的?
3。您覺得翻譯給您最大的收獲是什麽?
4。您對嚴複所說關於翻譯的“信,達,雅”是如何看待的?您的翻譯標準是什麽?
5。在這麽多唐詩宋詞,你是如何選擇詩歌來翻譯的?
6。在你的人生經曆裏,什麽使你感慨最深?
海外逸士的回複:
1。在文革中﹐當逍遙派﹐就開始翻譯詩詞。80年代﹐一首古詩翻譯第一次在國內雜誌上刊出。
2。我真的覺得﹐有時間時﹐搞點翻譯是個很好的消遣。所以到如今。
3。翻譯水平的逐漸提高﹐經驗的逐漸積累。
4。我就是按“信,達,雅”的原則來翻譯的。用我自己的話來說﹕詩人怎麼寫﹐譯者就怎麼譯。最好不走樣﹐同時作雙向考慮。使翻譯的終極語言有可讀性。
5。我是隨機選取。看到網上有人說起這首詩﹐覺得很喜歡﹐就拿下來譯了。有時自己記得哪首詩好﹐就古狗下來譯。
6。這個題目太大。不過﹐感慨最深的是人間不公。百姓生活在水深火熱中﹐有錢有勢者奢侈極淫﹐欺壓百姓 。

杜牧的《秋夕》,畫中有詩,詩中有畫。非常欣賞這樣貼切又簡潔的評語!
今天是端午節,但是忙著工作,要到周末才會去同鄉會聚餐品嚐粽子. 生活在海外其實各種節日很多,唯獨的小遺憾就是中國四大傳統節日(春節,元宵,端午,中秋)都在上班. 以前我都嚐試自己包過粽子呢, 盡管超市裏都有賣, 但吃起來感覺還是很不一樣,嗬嗬.

中文白話文翻譯 --- 秋夜
白色的燭光映著冷清的畫屏;我手執綾羅小扇,輕輕地撲打飛蛾。天階上的夜色,有如井水般清涼;坐榻仰望星空,牽牛星正對織女星。
英文翻譯 --- Autumn Night
The autumn light and the silver candle are cool on the painted screen;
She hits at the swirling fireflies with a small light silken fan.
In the night sky the heavenly Steps appear clear and cold, like water;
She sits and looks at the stars of the Cowherd and the Weaver.

Du Mu (杜牧, 803—852) was a leading Chinese poet of the late Tang Dynasty. His courtesy name was Muzhi (牧之), and sobriquet Fanchuan (樊川).
He was born in Chang'an (modern Xi'an) into an elite family whose fortunes were declining. He passed the jinshi ("Presented Scholar") level of the imperial civil service examination in 827 at the age of 25, and went on to hold many official positions in various locales through the years. However, he never achieved a high rank, perhaps due to enemies made in a factional dispute in 835. He was appointed to the office of Secretariat Drafter shortly before his death.
Du Mu was skilled in shi, fu and ancient Chinese prose. He is best known as the writer of sensual, lyrical quatrains featuring historical sites or romantic situations, and often the themes of separation, decadence, or impermanence. His style blends classical imagery and diction with striking juxtapositions, colloquialisms, or other wordplay. He also wrote long narrative poems, as well as a commentary on the Art of War and many letters of advice to high officials.
Regarded as a major poet during a golden age of Chinese poetry, his name is often mentioned together with that of another renowned Late Tang poet, Li Shangyin, as the Little Li-Du (小李杜), in contrast to the Great Li-Du: Li Bai and Du Fu. Among his influences were Du Fu, Li Bai, Han Yu and Liu Zongyuan.
In 1968, Roger Waters of the rock band Pink Floyd borrowed lines from his poetry to create the lyrics for the song Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun from the band's second album A Saucerful of Secrets. "Lotuses lean on each other in yearning" (多少綠荷相倚恨).
