前言
上個周六，戲雨飛鷹在《美語世界》論壇貼了一首由Azure Ray演唱的英語歌曲《A Thousand Years》，當時她就詢問大家“And I hope I'll be ready， When my light, when my life divides。”的涵義。我就給她留言道：“這是我第一次聽這首歌曲，我也無法完全理解這首歌曲，可是我喜歡這訴說般的吟唱，也不知道最後兩句要表達什麽。歌曲似乎流露出一個人的潛意識的思緒，在現在，過去，未來漫遊飄蕩。”
周日，戲雨飛鷹把她對這首歌曲的詮釋和我分享了，我也談了我自己的想法，現把我們倆對這首歌曲的探討摘錄如下，我喜歡這樣的交流。
（一）。戲雨飛鷹對英語歌曲《A Thousand Years》的詮釋

經過一段傳奇的經曆，女孩深深地愛上了他。之後，分離， 不能見麵，隻有心靈感應。。。 因為２人生活在兩個完全不同的世界上（可能是個image，也可能是個spirit。。。）。。
所以，女孩把不能給的（愛）都存下來，但存得是太滿了，溢出，融入空氣中。。他呼吸的不隻是air，還有隔世的人的呼喚。。所以，她用渴求心，聆聽著愛人的whisper。。
Then we can reasonably put Bear's insight: she's ready for the division, i.e., her life divides into everyday life and life with her lover in heaven(or another world) :)

戲雨飛鷹,
我平時很少認真地研究歌詞的,總是陶醉在歌曲的旋律裏,也許是因為我喜歡"聽"的緣故,再就是我不求甚解,你對歌詞的這麽認真的探討是我學習的榜樣.你從愛情的角度來分析這首歌曲，想象出男孩和女孩經過一段傳奇的經曆，頗有新意，也很浪漫．
下麵是我對Azure Ray演唱的《A Thousand Years》的歌曲的淺見,和你商榷.我覺得《A Thousand Years》是一首自我解剖,感悟體驗人生的歌曲.歌曲唱出過去的自己，現在的自己，以及將來的自己．
過去的自己，隻獲取，不給予，讓自己有一種窒息的感覺，盈滿則溢．正如歌中唱道：
＂I'm saving all i'm not giving
But it's overflowing, evaporating in the air．＂
現在的自己，開始探索自己的心靈，吸取聖賢的智慧，豁然開朗了。
As I'm walking, i know i'm not breathing,
I'm not breathing only air
It's filled with words once spoken by people everywhere
And i can hear all the whispers that have lived a thousand years
It just took me being open for them to reach my eager ears
Now they've reached my eager ears
將來的自己，無論未來發生了什麽，生離死別，天災人禍等，都能坦然麵對。
And I hope I'll be ready
When my light, when my life divides

Azure Ray is an American dream pop duo, consisting of musicians Maria Taylor and Orenda Fink. The pair met at the age of 15 at the Alabama School of Fine Arts. They fronted a band called Little Red Rocket, often compared to Veruca Salt, in their hometown of Birmingham, Alabama in the mid and late 1990s and released two albums with the band on Tim/Kerr records.
Azure Ray started in Athens, Georgia, but relocated to Omaha, Nebraska and joined the music scene there. Their sound is sparse and understated, with intimate lyrics, elements of alt-country and folk Americana, and occasional forays into minimalist electronica territory. Taylor and Fink are also in another Saddle Creek band called Now It's Overhead, with Andy LeMaster. The two have collaborated with Moby and co-wrote the song, "Great Escape" on the album 18. They have also appeared on numerous Bright Eyes records. Fink also works with Japancakes.
Azure Ray disbanded in 2004, leaving Fink and Taylor to work on solo and other collaborative projects, including working in Now It's Overhead and Maria Taylor's solo recordings.
Fink and Taylor reformed the band for a one-off show in Los Angeles on November 30, 2008. The duo was accompanied by Andy LeMaster of Now It's Overhead and Nick White of Tilly and the Wall.
In 2009, Taylor announced on KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic that the band would reform on a semi-permanent basis in July 2009 for "5 or 6" shows before working on a new Azure Ray album.
