I was born and raised in the Washington, D.C. area where my entire family has been an inspiration for my musical endeavors. I was fortunate to be continually surrounded by parents, siblings and extended family who were all involved in music. Thankfully, my parents have always been supportive of my interest in music.
As a young boy, I already knew that music was going to have a special place in my life. I can remember listening to many of my parent’s recordings of classical and popular composers. I particularly admired the music of Gershwin and was fascinated his piece, “Rhapsody in Blue”. Claude DeBussy, the French composer, was also one of my favorites.
At the age of 5, I was so excited about playing the piano that I started asking people to teach me songs on the piano. Then, several years later, I began taking real piano lessons. I can still recall how exciting it felt to learn a new piece of classical music after hearing my teacher play it for the first time.
In high school, I became interested in popular music and studied music theory and jazz. It was around this time that a friend and I put together a 14-piece “soul” band called the Atlantics. It was great and a lot of fun.
From the time I was very young I remember making up little melodies, but it wasn’t until many years later that I learned I could take these melodies and turn them into songs. That was when I met Brad Waarner, a composer, arranger and orchestrator, who has worked on many film scores. Brad took a number of the songs that I had composed and scored them for orchestra. These songs were later produced on my first CD, “Life in the Moment”. This CD has been very successful.
Some time later, I became interested in Jewish music and became inspired to produce and record a number of songs on a CD of traditional Jewish music entitled, “Return to Eden”. Most of the songs are played with a 50-piece orchestra and a chorus of 16 men. It was my goal to preserve the original melodies as faithfully as possible while surrounding them by powerful orchestration and vibrant arrangements.
It is my hope that you find this music to be as inspiring and enjoyable as I do.

Gerry Schubert, Pianist and Composer's latest works include two new exciting CD's, "Life in the Moment" and "Return to Eden."
In "Life in the Moment," Gerry plays his own compositions on piano and combines them with beautiful and soulful orchestrations. We know that you will find the music both relaxing and inspiring.
In "Return to Eden," Gerry has taken well-known traditional Jewish melodies and recorded them in a way which has never been done before - most of the songs on the CD are performed with a 50-piece orchestra and a chorus of 16 men. The results are spectaticular.
