Deer Bumping Accident

(2006-03-08 11:05:30) 下一個

I had to work late last night so my husband picked up Olivia and Evan from the daycare. On their way back home, it was dark and a deer suddenly showed up two feet away from the car and it was too late for my husband to react. The deer knocked off the headlight, bent the side of the car and damaged the passenger door. Olivia and Evan heard the sound but thought that the deer just got hurt and went home.

Today on our way to daycare, we saw the dead deer lying at the side of the road where the accident occurred. It was kind of a shock to them that the deer was actually dead.

I asked them how they felt when the accident happened. Olivia said she was scared. Evan said: “I’m scared too. The deer bumped daddy’s car. The light was gone and that’s not good. Daddy have the light fixed today, that is good.”

Olivia then asked me whether it is a mommy dear or baby deer. I said it was pretty big so probably not a baby deer. Olivia then said: “I do not even know whether it is a boy or a girl. Mommy, can you pick us up early tomorrow after work and go pick some flowers? After that I want to come back here to the deer. Even though it is her fault to bump into daddy’s car and got killed, we still need to be nice to her. I will put flowers besides her or maybe we can dig a hole to bury her and put the flowers on top like what we did for my goldfish.”
