He is an honest person and does everything above board.

He always opens the door for the elder because he believes in age before beauty.

Mike puts all his savings in stocks. His mom thinks that he should diversify his investments and not put all his eggs in one basket.

We were very angry with my brother because he dropped out of school.  He had an axe to grind saying that school is not his thing.

He missed the dinner for watch the nail-biting football game.

Alfred Hitchcock’s thriller movie called, Rear Window, is such a nail biter that everyone sits at the edge of his seat throughout the whole movie.

 

-- A steal

It is really a steal that he bought the 20" Flat panel TV at $50.

A brand new Sony 20” flat screen TV normally goes for $300.  My friend bought one 3 months ago and is now moving to another country.  So I got it from him for $50.  So it is really a steal.

 

-- At loggerheads

My brother dropped school by himself. That puts him at loggerheads with my parents.

After sit in front of the computer for 5 hours without any rest, he got charley horse.

You should try to frequently exercise your legs in a long plane ride to avoid getting a charley horse.

To collect more funds for the research, they brag a lot about the future benefit it will bring. Hope it will work as expected. Otherwise, chicken comes home to roost. They have to face the investors in the end.

 

If you use baby sitters to raise your child, the child may grow up with a lot of habits he learned from the baby sitter.  The chicken will come home to roost if you neglect your responsibility in raising the child yourself.
