有感George Orwell的1984

孩子推薦我讀他們book club的書-George Orwell的《1984》。這本書描繪了二戰之後的極權社會發展到1984時，極權政府對民眾無孔不入的監控，缺衣少食的民眾，毫無隱私，不容思考，連想都不可以的螻蟻生活。

值得一提的是此書出版於1949年，但今天讀來，覺得現實正上演著書上的情節。悲催！

• War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery, Ignorance is Strength. - 戰爭是和平，自由是奴役，無知就是力量。 以戰止戰”，“戰爭的目的是和平”，“知識越多越發動”聽著是不是很熟悉？
• Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past。誰控製過去，誰就控製未來。誰控製現在，誰就控製過去。極權政府不斷修改曆史，把不利於政府的過去全抹殺。殘暴的焚書坑儒，虛偽的“避長者諱”，嚴酷的文字獄，屏蔽異議的媒體，勒令下架的文藝作品，挪走的雕像。現實的例子少嗎？
• Freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two makes four. If that is granted, all else follows. - 自由是可以說二加二等於四的自由。在指鹿為馬，黑白顛倒的時代有自由嗎？

十五世紀的法國哲學家笛卡爾說：“我思故我在”。這本書作者原本打算命名為“最後一個人。”也學了幾個單詞：

• utopia vs dystopia
  • dys-前綴指difficult，pain-苦難，疼痛
  • utopia - an imagined place or state of things in which everything is perfect. 想象的完美烏托幫。
  • dystopia - an imagined state or society in which there is great suffering or injustice, typically one that is totalitarian or post-apocalyptic。想象的痛苦不公正的世界末日。
• totalitarianism ：a system of government that is centralized and dictatorial and requires complete subservience to the state。中央獨裁的政府係統，要求絕對服從。當前的北朝鮮就是一個中央獨裁的政府。
  • 詞根 ism - 包括：belief, speech, condition, state, act。X主義。
  • totalitarian
    • 可作名詞 - a person advocating a totalitarian system of government - 提倡中央極權的人 。
    • 可作形容詞 - relating to a system of government that is centralized and dictatorial and requires complete subservience to the state 和中央極權政府有關的。
