Chinese Have a Different Mindset to Americans! Who is right?

Many things affect the way we think, talk and act but is that a good thing or bad thing? People in China and in Western countries have very different mindsets, but who is living life the right way?

Chinese mindset 1: (due to Confucius value system) propriety, polite, justice, integrity, shame, and respect.
Western mindset 1: (because not going to Sunday church any more) severely lack on all above aspects.
Chinese mindset 2: The world is equally shared by all. Live and let live.
Western mindset 2: If you're not at table, you're in the menu. Either with me or against me.

What’s more sad to me is how Chinese students to become doctors and scientists or engineers comes to big cities in America and ends up getting killed or end up in a prison. A Chinese scholar student went missing and body was never found. Murderer was caught but I won’t be surprised if he is already out from prison. It’s just a fact that Chinese don’t understand streets of America. Scary stuff.

The universal rule of thumb is "When in Rome, do as the Romans do. 入鄉隨俗。"  To a large extent, China is a universe by itself, therefore, it is hard for any hostile outsiders to harm/impact/change China. I think this is the very reason for us to say: We don't care!

News about the vis-free policy: as people from most European contries are allowed to travel for 15 days visa-free to China now on Hainan it has been prolonged to 30 days:

By Xinhua
China has eased its visa-free policy for entering the country's southern island province of Hainan, allowing eligible visitors to enter the province for more purposes, the relevant authority announced Friday.

Starting Friday, visitors from 29 countries are allowed to enter Hainan visa-free for purposes including business, a tourist visit, visiting a relative, medical treatment, an exhibition or sports, China's National Immigration Administration said in a statement.

Such visitors can stay in Hainan Province for up to 30 days, the statement said.

The previous policy also allowed visitors from these countries to enter Hainan visa-free but only for tourism purposes, according to the administration.

The statement from the administration said the new policy aims to advance reform and opening up across the board in Hainan and to support the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port.

Thank you and truly appreciate your honest video, I don't know much about life in China I only traveled to China two times last time was in the year 2000, and I think I need to take more trips to visit this great country.

As Ben said, there are a lot of food deliverers in China.  I have seen many of them leave their E-bikes unlocked with keys to save time when they enter restaurants to pick up food packages or go to deliver such to buyers.  And none of them is afraid that their E-bikes would be stolen.

Was there ever a time in the UK when people "expected" to be safe and not have their stuff stolen as something common? From personal experience, US was "safe" in the 60s and parts of the 70s, but things changed in the 80s and not all for the good. I remember a time when victims had more rights than criminals, the middle-class had most of the nation's wealth, and father-mother-children families with affordable housing (often on single incomes) were the rule rather than the exception. Since then, American elites ruthlessly changed mindsets of the country for the worse, but it doesn't have to remain that way, unless We the People do nothing to set the country straight.

In order to understand China you have to know first that China is a very old civilization with 2500 years of Confucianism. This philosophy has been entrenched within the Chinese culture that it has become a way of life. Respect for the elderly and for teachers because they have more life experience and they give knowledge and knowledge is worth more than money. Parents save money just to give the best education to their children.

It's the collectivist vs. individualist mindset.  Still, there are positive aspects of individualism.  You are less likely to get caught up in stupid trends.  Also, a more individualistic culture tends to produce entrepreneurs or "free thinkers".  Overall, though, a society focused on hyper-individualism isn't really a society at all.  Just a collection of isolated people.
