南加一年四季陽光燦爛，山穀眾多，是戶外活動的黃金地帶。兩年前，我們這支大多由空巢父母組成的隊伍應運而生，相約周六早上6：30集合於trail head，進行我們每周一次3-4小時，6-10英裏的徒步登山。兩年來，我們的足跡踏遍了當地的大小山穀，我們的目光領略了各處遼闊的山巒；我們迎著晨曦，走在山丘，看層巒疊嶂；我們沿著山脊, 走到海邊，看海上的風帆和卷起的白浪。我們徜徉在藍天白雲下，享受著山風的吹拂，陽光的撫慰，一路談笑風生。雖然大多數時候，山是禿的，草是枯的，路是一成不變的，然而我們還是發現著美，欣賞著美，記錄著美。鳥兒，鹿兒，花兒是我們記錄中的常客，今日的直升機救人卻還是頭一回親眼所見......
Living in southern CA, we are blessed with the year-round sunny weather. Whether you a casual hiker or an avid outdoor goer, you will find many well-maintained hiking trails, acres upon acres of wild land in the valleys, within a short distance of drive. Two years ago, when our kids left us for colleges, the so-called “empty nest” parents formed a hiking team, getting together for a hike of 3 to 4 hours, a distance of 6 to 10 miles every Saturday morning. While spring is the best season, when grass in the mountain finally turns green after the shortfall of winter rains and the wild flowers bloom vigorously, we are actually enjoying every season, with eagles circling high above in blue sky and wind rustling from the valley. What the rustic wilderness brings us are not just the scene, but more a relaxation and joy of walking in the misty mornings or sweating in the beaming sun. Occasionally we witness something new, like today, when a helicopter searched for more than half an hour in an attempt to rescue an injured hiker in the Red Rock Canyon.

直升機在山穀裏盤旋了半個多小時
終於找到目標所在地，是Red Rock Canyon 處(下圖)。
又過了二三十分鍾，遠遠看見直升機上的救護人員從機上吊了下來......
當我們十點左右離開時，直升機還在忙碌地轟隆著，回來的路上看到的一輛救火車，一輛公園巡警(park ranger)車就地待命。希望受傷者很快得到救護。
