來自奧運之國的智慧

 

 

第三十一屆夏季國際奧林匹克運動會正在巴西裏約如火如荼地展開，全世界的目光都在聚焦巴西。值此機會，我想起了一位來自巴西的著名作家保羅·柯爾賀（Paulo Coelho）。我孤陋寡聞，直到三年前從Chioptle的外賣袋上讀到他寫的一篇《兩隻水桶》寓言故事時，才認識他、並開始關注和閱讀他的作品。

 

柯尓賀生於1947年，年輕時是個浪子，不學無術，被父母送進過精神病院，1974年參加政治活動，坐過三次牢。1977年開始周遊世界並寫作，寫了兩本書，卻無人問津。1988年出版了寓言小說《牧羊少年奇幻之旅》又譯《煉金術士》(The Alchemist)，起初該書並沒有被出版社看好，隻印了900本。直到1990年，柯爾賀出版了另一部小說《少女布萊達靈修之路》後，《牧羊少年奇幻之旅》才引起關注，被譯成英文版在美國發行後引起轟動，一時洛陽紙貴，在《紐約時報》暢銷書排行榜停留了303周，後來被譯成80多種語言出版發行，全球銷量超過6500萬冊。這本書英譯本隻有160頁，字數不多，字裏行間卻充滿了人生智慧，書中有一千多名言警句被世人引用傳頌。

 

巴西曾經是葡萄牙的殖民地，官方語言是萄萄牙語，19世紀獨立後，一直在獨裁統治之下，直到上世紀八十年代才實現民主政治，經濟獲得快速發展，被稱為“金磚四國”之一。柯尓賀經曆了從專製到民主的過渡時期，他周遊世界的經曆使他的思想得到升華和提煉。他的文字充滿哲理和經過生活磨煉後的睿智，讀第一遍的時候覺得新鮮、拍案叫絕，發人深思過後又覺得似成相識，原來我的骨子裏頭已經打上了我們老祖宗文化遺產的烙印。雖然人們生活在地球上的不同地方，但是生活經曆中提煉出來智慧卻是相通的。也許這就是人們常說的普世真理和普世價值吧！
