From Coach Ks milestone to Shaquille ONeals shots at Pat Riley to watching Princeton play, TSNs Jack Armstrong offers his thoughts on the basketball front.pánské/Dámské Nike Air Max 90 Premium Tapes|běh boty modrý Hero/?erné-Flash Lime-Atomic ?ervený . FIVE BASKETBALL THOUGHTS: 1. COACH K (Duke): 903 wins and counting. Congrats! Wonderful career so far for him at both Army and Duke. Heres what I find amazing; after his first three years at Duke, his record was below the .500 mark, both overall and in ACC play and he was under the gun. Today, a coach at that level gets fired nine times out of 10. Back then, Athletic Director Tom Butters stood by his coach and said, This is the guy and gave him a contract extension and the rest is history. So often, folks are ready to jump the gun and run a coach out and this is just another example of someone sticking by his convictions and doing whats right instead of whats popular. Im sure Duke fans are happy now that Butters did the right thing and kept Coach K. 2. MLSE: Over the past few days, there has been speculation over whether MLSE, the owner of the Toronto Raptors, Leafs, Marlies and Toronto FC, could ever possibly be sold to an American or some other foreign ownership group. There have been varying opinions on this. Who knows if any sale even happens. If a sale ever took place, I find it amusing that folks would care about what country someone was from. In my opinion, thats ridiculous. Hey, Im from NYC and when George Steinbrenner, an outsider from Cleveland, bought the New York Yankees from CBS in 1973, I and any sane Yankees fan didnt care if he was from Mars, Pluto or Jupiter. The bottom line: was he going to be committed to winning? It worked out just fine. From a basketball perspective, Mark Cuban is from Pittsburgh and he owns the Dallas Mavericks, who by the way are the NBA champs and hes been a fabulous owner. I dont think anyone in their right mind in Dallas cares where hes from. By the way, I think MLSE has been committed and willing to spend dollars on its teams but some of the decisions (on various fronts) made in the attempt to put together a winner have been poor. For those few who hold onto these small-minded parochial and/or nationalistic thoughts, the bottom line is having ownership that is committed to the fans and winning whether that be the current ownership group or the next one if there is one. Nothing else matters. Al Davis said it best, Just Win Baby! 3. SHAQ vs. PAT RILEY: In former NBA player Shaquille ONeals book, he takes shots at his former coach Pat Riley for how he was treated after the Heat won the NBA championship back in 2006. He had a hard time with Rileys demands that he show up to training camp in shape and ready to play, as all professionals are expected to do. Considering the fact that Shaq admitted that he spent the off-season partying and celebrating the championship and went out of his way to avoid what he needed to do to get himself into tip-top shape, I find it mind-boggling that he would blame Riley for getting after him and other lazy teammates for not being professional. Doesnt he owe it to the ownership paying him, his teammates and coaches and most importantly, the fans who buy the tickets to be ready to give it his ultimate best. Congrats on 2006 but when the next season rolls around, they dont pay you based upon that; its not a lifetime achievement award! Shaq had a great career and hes a surefire Hall of Famer but he reveals a side that shows that he wasnt always committed, day in and day out. Yes, Pat Riley can be a pain in the butt to play for and they had it out at the end, but good for Riley because he stood his ground and did what was right for his owner, team and fans. Im sure if Shaq ever decides to coach for a living, he wouldnt tolerate a players laziness either. Get with reality. To whom much is given, much is expected. 4. NBA SEASON CANCELED THRU DEC 15: The first player checks missed were worth on average $220,000 per player. Imagine going to the bank to cash a check for $ 220K? Doesnt suck. Lawsuits are flying and the rhetoric increased again. As we move towards the holidays, the weather changes, cabin fever sets in and checks keep getting missed, something just tells me that some common sense and logic will begin to appear on both sides. It needs to. 5. PRINCETON BASKETBALL: Wednesday night, I watched some Princeton-NC State hoops instead of working the Suns/Raptors game. No offence to my NCAA roots, but would have much preferred being in Toronto for that one. Ill say this though, even in defeat, Princeton is a joy to watch if you can appreciate player and ball movement along with excellent spacing and solid shot selection in the half-court game. I had the opportunity to coach against Princeton when I was an assistant at Fordham University, as well as when I was the head coach at Niagara University and they were always a challenging opponent to prepare your defence for. If you get a chance, check them out. Theyre far from the most talented team on earth but what they do is pretty neat with limited individual talent. Air Max 90 Dámské . David Griffin was promoted from interim GM on Monday by owner Dan Gilbert. He says Irving was not consulted on Browns future and any insinuation that he pushed to have him fired is "patently false. Dámské Nike LunarGlide 6 běh boty modrý/r??ový ... CINCINNATI, Ohio -- The Toronto Blue Jays added a reliever for the second game of their series against the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday, calling up left-hander Rob Rasmussen for the second time this season. Rasmussen didnt have a decision during his four appearances in May, when he gave up two hits and no runs in two innings. Toronto used five relievers while pulling off the second-biggest ccomeback in franchise history on Friday night, rallying from an 8-0 deficit to a 14-9 win. Nike Free 3.0 Flyknit Cena. Liam Hendriks started and lasted only 1 2-3 innings, giving up six hits and six runs. Hendriks was optioned back to Triple-A Buffalo as planned. The Blue Jays had called him up to start in place of R.A. Dickey, who was pushed back to Sunday to let his sore groin heal. cheap jerseys cheap nhl jerseys ' ' '
