《A prayer for Marta》，像流雲從天空緩緩而過，俯瞰廣場上發生的一切。

站在行駛中的蘇聯坦克上的青年，讓你想到另外一個站在坦克前的青年。

額頭流血的青年，堅定的神情，更讓你記起童年，電影海報上的青年。海報掛在電影院外的櫥窗裏麵，走過一定停下腳步看一遍，哪怕已經路過了好幾回。海報上的阿爾巴利亞青年也都長著這樣一張廋削的臉，和高挺的鼻梁。長得很像，神情也很像，《寧死不屈》、《第八個是銅像》。記得銅像的名字是易樸拉欣，他的女朋友叫艾瑪，好像。電影裏的接頭暗號在社會上流行過好一陣子：消滅法西斯，自由屬於人民！幾十年以後才知道，易樸拉欣是伊斯蘭教的先知，即猶太教的亞伯拉罕。

讓自由留在這個國家！Let peace still remain with this country!

歌詞從Jan Amos Comenius的名言獲得靈感：the people will one day once again decide on their own fates！他曾經是宗教難民，摩拉維亞人，17世紀裏致力公共教育的教育家。

Marta瑪爾塔·庫碧索娃，上個世紀六十年代的捷克女歌手。她用捷克語翻唱的披頭士《Hey Jude》在布拉格之春中成為示威遊行的歌曲。“嗨，Jude，讓你的心自己做主，這就開始吧。你一直等人來幫忙你，但是你不知道，那個人就是你自己。”

布拉格之春後瑪爾塔被禁唱，為了生存她成為打字員，丈夫屈從政府和她離婚並移居國外。1989年天鵝絨革命爆發，禁聲二十多年的瑪爾塔被請回廣場，向集會人群再次演唱《Hey Jude》。《A prayer for Marta》瑪爾塔1968年演唱過一次，再次演唱也是在天鵝絨革命爆發後。

The song was originally intended to be the finale to episode seven of the TV series A Song For Rudolf III, which was about a Prague butcher's life. However, the episode featuring the song wasn't shown on TV until early 1969.
