From Originals by Adam Grant: In one study, elementary school teachers listed their favorite and least favorite students. The least favorite students were non-conformists who made up their own rules. This research shows we can discriminate against creativity at an early age.

"楊振寧先生認為taste不太容易翻譯，並不僅僅是“品味”這一層意思。他演講時談到：一個人在剛接觸物理學的時候，他所接觸的方向及思考的方法，與他過去的訓練和他的個性結合在一起，會造成一個英文叫taste。最近幾年，有幾個非常年輕、聰明的學生，其中有一位到我這兒請求進普林斯頓研究院，那時他才15歲，我對他的發展前途並不是最樂觀。我問了他幾個量子力學的問題，他都會回答，但我問他，量子力學問題，哪一個你覺得是妙的？他講不出來。整個量子力學就像是茫茫一片。盡管他吸收了很多東西，可是他沒有發展成一個taste，因為學一個東西不止是要學到一些知識，不是學到一些技術上的特別的方法，更是要對它的意義有一些欣賞。假如他學了量子力學以後，他不覺得有的東西是重要的，有的東西是美妙的，有的東西是值得跟別人辯論得麵紅耳赤而不放手的，那我覺得他對這個東西沒有學進去，隻是學了可以參加考試的很好分數的知識，這不是真正做學問的精神。"
