　　1997年，一部有史以來製作費最高的電影《泰坦尼克號》一時間風靡了整個世界，傑克和露絲一段驚天動地的愛情悲劇也讓眾多戀愛中的情侶灑下了他們感動之淚，該片也成為有史以來票房最高的影片，全球賣座高達18億美元。由加拿大著名女歌手席琳．迪翁（Celion Dion）演唱的主題曲“我心永恒--My Heart Will Go On”更是風靡全世界，令本片的電影原聲帶唱片賣出了千萬張。
　　為本片配樂的是鼎鼎大名的配樂大師詹姆斯．霍納（James Horner）。他從踏入影視創作領域至今，素以其唯美華麗、充滿詩意的配樂風格在樂壇獨樹一幟。《泰坦尼克號》無疑是霍納創作生涯中最具群眾魅力的作品。在影片中，霍納采用了不少由電子合成器譜寫的樂段，再透過大約二十位樂師組成的小型樂團來詮釋片中的主題音樂，同時搭配挪威女歌手西撒爾．吉爾克傑柏（Sissel Kjyrjeboe）天籟般的人聲吟唱與法國號的共鳴，使全片的音樂既具磅礴氣勢，亦具有浪漫史詩的悲涼，真可謂剛柔並濟，既突出了北大西洋海麵上經曆的一次代價慘重的沉船悲劇，有不失時機地表現男女主人公之間的款款深情，巧妙的編寫出歌頌愛情同時也追悼愛情的感人旋律。至於在泰坦尼克號船上樂師所演奏的音樂，以及詹姆斯．霍納沒有收錄在電影原聲帶內的作品，都另外結集出版了數張延仲性的專輯，依舊風行一時，有相當不錯的銷售成績。
