The moral of academic researchers

(2005-08-18 12:06:44) 下一個

I was soooooooooo happy that I could not help dancing around our bedroom! MG, the scholar whose paper has been cited for more than 2000 times, kindly agreed to schedule a time for our meeting next week as a response to my email request!!!! OMG,  I feel so inspired! He's soooooooooooo awesome, as respectful as Storper. I still couldn't believe that Storper promptly wrote back to Li last time when Li was asking for a copy of his Ph.D. thesis for me by email. No wonder they were the real "BIG Figure" in the academic world! And their replies really mean something to me: One essential quality of a sucessful academic is to be modest, to be friendly to the young nonames. It's more than encouragement in academic research that they have brought to my life, indeed, I have seen the best demonstration of some real scholars in dealing with fame and accomplishments with their amiable and unpretending attitudes.

In this sense, I despise my mum's elder bro very much!!!!! He was only a college prof., which is different from a university prof. even if he got the tenure, heng! Then what's his point in critizing my dad for not recieving a prof.  some years ago? He's a bastard!!!! Please forgive my discourtecy! But don't you think him being more discourteous to speak to my dad, who is his undergraduate roommate in this way! Don't mention he should taken into consideration his "repectful appearance" as a so-called prof. in an unfake college in U.S..  I was out of the boundary of rage when I heard about this!!!! Even till today, after my mum's break with her evil family, I still remember all the humiliation he once gave to my family!  I wonder whether he is as rude to his collegues and students as he is to his family members. I suppose not because he neither has the academic achievements to be ostentatious, nor does he dare to do so in a fully civilized society where everyone has a sense of mutual respects. He is the most disgusting and ingenuous person that I have met for the past twenty-three years!!!  And unfortunately, he is an academic who studies in democracy:(  He is perhaps the best illustration of a modern Tartuffe--a fictitious supporter of national and international democracy and a  feudalistic defender of family despotism inside.  I looked through his publication. 90% of them are pulished in journals of P.R. C. and Hong Kong. Do you think it belongs to an accomplished academic who did most his researches in the higher institutions of U.S.?He can only trick the snobbish and stupid Chinese academia, but not me, not those who have even taken a tiny step into the academic world in the U.S..  No wonder why he has so many conferences in mainland China and flies so frequently back these years. Don't kid me that there is no conference of his research interests in EU ,Canada or US! You can easily find a whole bunches of conferences and seminars in universities and institutions on almost all the academic topics everywhere in the world if you are equipped with web-navigating appliances.

For me, the moral of an academic researcher not only lies in his responsiblity of creating true data and analysis, avoidence of academic cheating and honesty in admitting falses. It also includes a matter of self-retrospection, to be unpretending of your social status and academic achievement, and always show your respect to others, no matter who they are and how much knowledge they have.
