I cannot believe the fact that my son, my only child, is already nineteen years old. His photos and voices on the type cassettes, which I had managed to record before he was two and half years, do not match up with the mature young man as he is now. I feel kind of loss. Meanwhile, I am proud of whom he has become today and prospective of the life he is leading to in the future. I have tried, quite successfully, to give him as much space as he needs to establish his own independent domain, though it is not easy for any mom to see her children off the safety of the protected shelter. He is doing very well and seems happier there than at home (BUT, he has been extremely busy. So I guess he does not have much time to enjoy his newly found independence.) Sigh…young people. What can parents do? (Since I have been young once, I understand. I am a cool mom.)

Early last month, he sent my husband and me an email, recommending a book he had just finished. I went to our community library, got a copy of “Tuesdays with Morris” and started reading. He must have love the book very much because he has emailed us a month later to emphasize how good the book is and make sure we indeed have read it.
