如何刷牙

過年期間燉了些
羊骨羊肉,想暖身子來著,沒想連吃幾燉,牙床腫起個大包,它鄰近的那顆牙疼得夠嗆,尋思是上了火,喝綠豆湯吃黃瓜敗火卻都無濟於事,疼得不行,心想是不是有牙洞啊,終於頭一回去看了牙醫。

拍了X光片,一通檢查完大夫說你的牙啥問題都沒有,應當是牙周發炎了。給開了些漱口水抗生素就把我打發回家了。漱口水說會讓牙齒變色,大夫雖然叮囑了我說不用擔心,俺這愛臭美的還是沒怎麽敢用。抗生素吃了兩天,終於開始好轉,以後就把這事兒忘了。

後來和人寫Email聊天突然想起來大夫給我做的如何刷牙的科普了,覺得有益,決定寫下來。下麵是英文的,因為朋友是老美,就先敲了英文。現在讓我把它再用中文敲一遍。基本都是從我這位從醫二三十年的牙醫同誌那裏聽來的。這裏有牙醫童鞋,尤其是美女牙醫,有不對之處請一定擔待。也還望做出指正,先謝!


基本上說如果方法正確,每天刷牙兩次用牙線一次幾乎就可以不用再看牙醫了。

牙的健康取決於牙本身和下麵支撐牙的牙床,缺一不可。這兩樣都可能被食物中的酸,細菌等侵害。

所以刷牙和牙線的目的就是去掉牙和牙周上的食物殘渣,使它們不能轉換成酸等壞東東。牙大家都知道就不解釋了,牙周要解釋一下,就是包著牙的那圈。

牙周和牙之間在交接線往下有兩毫米左右的縫隙,不是在交接線那兒就真交接到一起了。就這圈縫隙就是藏汙納垢的地界兒。以前刷牙不敢太深覺得會刷進牙床的肉裏,怕疼,實際刷牙是一定要清洗這個縫隙的,也就是要往交接線下再深兩毫米左右。交界線往上那就是白白的牙,往下那可是基本看不到的,就是這個縫隙。

怎麽刷對呢?牙刷用力給不同的角度是可以刷到牙前麵和後麵的縫隙裏的,就是牙側麵刷不到。這時就需要牙線。左邊一顆牙右邊一顆牙,牙線也是要這兩顆牙側麵的縫隙都要照顧到,所以一個牙縫兩個用力方向,才可以把左右兩顆牙的側麵縫隙都清理到。

看到出血不要擔心。如果牙周健康,刷牙或用牙線都不會出血。出血就是它不健康,不健康就是不夠幹淨,就趕緊清理,等幹淨了,就不出血了。

每天最最重要的刷牙和用牙線時間就是晚上睡覺前,因為一夜功夫食物殘渣裏的啥壞東東都可能出來。相比之下,白天是不是吃完東西一會兒就刷牙還真不那麽重要。

多喝水也有幫助。少吃甜食那就更加了。俺這麽多年就看了這一次牙醫大概可能也許基本就是因了這兩條。

How to brush your teeth

I recently went to see a dentist, it's the first time that I go see one. Here are some lessons that I learned from him. I am sharing them with you. Hope you have healthy teeth.

Brushing teeth twice a day and flossing once a day may essentially eliminate the need for dentists, provided that the brushing and flossing techniques are correct.

Basically the health of teeth is determined by the teeth themselves and the gum etc. supporting the teeth. Both can be compromised by acid, bacteria, etc.

So brushing and flossing need to be done in a way to remove all food particles and residues from both the teeth and the gum. The gum here really means the gap between a tooth and the gum surrounding the tooth.

This gap usually has ~2mm open area on top, which is invisible but can store a lot of food particles. Brushing with right angles can reach this area at the front and back of a tooth, while flossing is needed for this area at two sides of a tooth. Therefore the flossing must reach into this gap on both sides of a tooth, in order to be effective.

Do not be afraid of reaching into the gap. If your gum is healthy, it shoud not bleed. If it bleeds, it's not healthy, keep flossing. Once it becomes healthy, the bleeding will stop.

The most important brushing/flossing is the one before bed-time. During the day, whether to brush/floss right after meals/food is not as important.

Drinking more water and eating fewer sweets would also help.
