He told me to watch the circles created by the stone. Then he asked me to think of myself as that stone person. 在我七歲那年，祖父把我帶到農場的魚塘。他讓我撿一顆石頭扔到水中，並囑咐我仔細觀察石頭所濺起的水花。然後，他叫我把自己想象成這顆石頭。  "You may create lots of splashes in your life, but the waves that come from those splashes will disturb the peace of all your fellow creatures," he said, "Remember that you are responsible for what you put in your circle and that circle will also touch many other circles."     “在生命的水麵上，你可以濺起許多水花，而這些水花的波紋也會幹擾到你周圍眾生的寧靜。”祖父對我說，“記住，你需要對你所激起的波紋負責，因為它們會碰觸到別人的波紋。” "You will need to live in a way that allows the good that comes from your circle to send the peace of that goodness to others. The splash that comes from anger or jealousy will send those feelings to other circles. We cannot create world peace if we are riddled with inner conflict, hatred, doubt, or anger. 這是我第一次明白，每個人心中的平靜或不安，都會傳播給整個世界。如果我們的內心沉迷於矛盾、仇恨、懷疑甚至憤怒之中，自然就不能帶給世界以安寧。 We radiate the feelings and thoughts that we hold inside, whether we speak them or not. Whatever is splashing around inside of us is spilling out into the world, creating beauty or discord with all other circles of life.   無論是否說出來，我們心中的感覺和思緒，都無時不在向外界釋放。我們內心激起的所有水花，都會濺向這個世界，並與他人的生命水花一起，形成嘈雜，抑或美麗。
