Help Me Write An Asian/American Love Story
I am an aspiring author living in Omaha, Nebraska. Currently I am writing a book about a middle-aged woman who comes to Omaha from her home country of China to study English at the university level.
The character in my story is far from home, family, and friends. She is living in a culture very different from her own. What does she think and feel about her new situation? What are her impressions of American culture? The food? The fashion? What about popular culture like movies and music?
What about American people in general? How does she respond to them? And to American men in particular? If an American man shows romantic interest in her, will she remain loyal to her husband or lover back home in China? If she becomes attracted to an American man who does not seem to be returning her interest, will she try to win his heart? If so, how?
If you are a Chinese woman living in Omaha, and you are able to identify with my character’s situation, I would be very interested in interviewing you. Your input can help make my book much more realistic and authentic.
