a new guy stood up to the 職壇 bully, showing that not all Chinese are wimps.
(ntking, with all due respect. What I am going to say is not targeting at you, per se. You know how much I admire your wisdom).
Many new comers, are crushed under ntking\'s harsh, abusive, rude words, left without uttering a protest. You are the first one not bowing to him. That\'s the spirit we want to see in a Chinese lad. It\'s this spirit that will lead you to the better life and career in the coming years. You can count on my words. No one, even the bullies (like your boss) respects the weakly-willed. Only the strength and dignity will own you what you deserve.
There are some newbies in this forum liking to give you a lecture about how obedient you should be and how low you should lower your self-esteem, to please the violators, how much thankful you should still be after being ed. Those newbies make a lot noise disguised as advices. Following their advices will mislead you to the bottomless career abyss, and you will be man no more.
(As for ntking, except being rude, his advices are quite wise, on the other hand)
As the tribute to your courage, I am going to give you some advices. I believe my time will be well spent.
My high-level advice to you, as well as to many Chinese folks:
- Maintaining dignity, pride, righteousness, and self-esteam is more benefiting in long term. Those are the ultimate force bettering yourself.
- Even the lowest has some bargain power and can even some scores with the highest.
- Even the meanest evil people respect foes with dignity.
- if someone screws me, I screw back --- Donald Trump
- Sometimes, the only way to win-win is through loss-loss first.
- Most time, most bosses are the ones you need to follow and obey. But some bosses are mean and indifferent of others\' welfare.
- Be fair. It not only means being fair to others, but also demanding being treated fairly.
In general, you need to trust most people\'s good intention most of the time, including your current boss. In your specific case, you should have explictily and openly raise your concerns/objections earlier, as well as now. If you are very sure of his intentional ill treatment of you, you don\'t need to go any extra mile for him before leaving at the least. In the worst scenario, some professional codes can be bent, the others can be broken --- that will be a complete loss-loss outcome of course.
Please note: tactics are very important too, of which many people in this forum are saavy.
