人類曆史上的今天,發生了如下值得我關注的事件：

 

——1215

英國頒布《自由大憲章》Magna Carta

《大憲章》（Great Charter），是1215年6月15日英王約翰被迫簽署的憲法性的文件。在隨後的版本中大部分對英國王室絕對權力的直接挑戰條目被刪除；1225年首次成為法律；1297年的英文版本至今仍然是英格蘭威爾士的有效法律。其宗旨為保障封建貴族的政治獨立與經濟權益，限製王權。大憲章是英國在建立憲法政治長遠曆史過程的開始，雖然《大憲章》在當時說是一份迫於形勢下的權宜之法律，但它被後代視為民主英格蘭發展的基石。

King John puts his seal on Magna Carta

Following a revolt by the English nobility against his rule, King John puts his royal seal on Magna Carta, or “the Great Charter,” on June 15, 1215. The document, essentially a peace treaty between John and his barons, guaranteed that the king would respect feudal rights and privileges, uphold the freedom of the church, and maintain the nation’s laws. Although more a reactionary than a progressive document in its day, Magna Carta was seen as a cornerstone in the development of democratic England by later generations.

美國加拿大邊境確立

 

英國和美國的代表簽署了《俄勒岡條約》，該條約解決了美國與英國關於誰控製俄勒岡州領土的長期爭端。該條約將從落基山脈到佐治亞海峽的北緯49度線確立為美國和英屬加拿大之間的邊界。美國正式控製了未來的俄勒岡州、華盛頓州、愛達荷州和蒙大拿州；英國人保留了溫哥華島和哥倫比亞河部分地區的航行權。

U.S.-Canadian border established

Representatives of Great Britain and the United States sign the Oregon Treaty, which settles a long-standing dispute with Britain over who controlled the Oregon territory. The treaty established the 49th parallel from the Rocky Mountains to the Strait of Georgia as the boundary between the United States and British Canada. The United States gained formal control over the future states of Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Montana; and the British retained Vancouver Island and navigation rights to part of the Columbia River.

《人民日報》創刊

《人民日報》（People‘s Daily），是中國共產黨中央委員會機關報，1948年6月15日在河北省平山縣創刊，與新華社及中央電視台，並列為中國共產黨和中華人民共和國政府官方三大傳媒機構。1949年3月15日，《人民日報》報社遷入北京。同年8月1日，《人民日報》轉為中國共產黨中央委員會機關報。是當今中國最具權威性和影響力、發行量第二大的綜合性報紙，每天發行量曾高達300萬份。並被聯合國教科文組織及世界報業協會評定為世界十大主要報刊之一。
