Memories of My Melancholy Whores 是馬老爺子寫的最後一本小說，十年前出版。
當年他７７歲。
昔年種柳，是高曉鬆譯的書名。
高曉鬆在酒駕坐牢的時候, 嚐試翻譯這本書, 因為沒有授權，隻翻譯了第一章，後麵沒
翻完。
小說的主人公是個老家夥，基本上就是寫的馬爾克斯自己, 在９０歲生日的時候，為了
慶祝和紀念，準備給自己找個雛妓，結果因此引發一場＂變態＂的祖孫戀。
老男人愛上小姑娘。
全書充滿了老男人的萎瑣掙紮. 能這麽誠實也是一種勇氣。
很短，薄薄的一本，沒有什麽魔幻的成分，基本是完全寫實。
猛一看以為是一本愛情小說，其實是一本寫衰老和死亡的書。
按John Updike的書評，這是＂a love letter to the dying light".
所以高曉鬆把書名翻譯成 “昔年種柳” 是很貼切的。取自《枯樹賦》，“昔年種柳，
依依漢南；今看搖落，淒愴江潭。樹猶如此，人何以堪！”
而且也暗合＂楊柳岸曉風殘月＂的妓院發生的故事背景。

the joyful agony of any day after my hundredth birthday.”
