SAN FRANCISCO, Feb 7 (Reuters) - Institutional investor Capital Research & Management Co. has boosted its stake in chipmaker Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD.N: Quote, Profile , Research) to 4.5 percent, a regulatory filing showed on Wednesday.

Capital Research had owned 2.63 percent of AMD at the end of September, according to Reuters data on institutional holdings.
