Buckingham Research Reiterates Strong Buy Rating on McDonald's (MCD)
01-12-2007 09:52:24 AM
Buckingham Research analyst, Mark Kalinowski, reiterates a Strong Buy on McDonald's (NYSE: MCD).

Kalinowski says, "Based upon a short survey of 22 domestic McDonald’s franchisees, we increase our December same-store sales forecast for the U.S. from 4.3% to 7.2%. (This places us well above the
Briefing.com consensus estimate of 4.2%.) Our move bumps up our Q4 EPS estimate to $0.61, three cents above the $0.58 consensus projection, and tying us with one other sell-side firm for the high estimate on the Street. We look for McDonald’s to pre-announce its Q4 EPS as it reports its December same-store sales figures before the market open on Wednesday, January 17th. We reiterate our Strong Buy rating on MCD, as well as our $50 target price."
Citigroup Analyst Comments on SanDisk (SNDK)
01-12-2007 09:45:11 AM
Citigroup analyst, Craig A. Ellis, comments on SanDisk (Nasdaq: SNDK) : "We are cautious on SNDK shares entering 2007. Fieldwork suggests known near-term pricing risks could prove greater than Street expectations, compounded near term by seasonality, waning price elasticity of demand, and any upside to NAND supply. On company-specifics, while we expect solid 4Q06 EPS given handset card strength, a cautious 1Q07 outlook should be expected and we see more downside than upside risk to 2007 Street EPS revisions. Catalysts could emerge closer to the February 26th Analyst day, and we might reconsider our Hold / Speculative Risk (2S) rating at share prices below $40."
Citigroup Analyst Says KLA-Tencor (KLAC) Remains Best Idea for New Money in 2007
01-12-2007 09:43:04 AM
Citigroup analyst, Timothy Arcuri, comments on KLA-Tencor (Nasdaq: KLAC) : Recent checks suggest that, despite the recent acquisition of ADEX and TWAV (an additional ~700heads), KLAC intends to keep total corporate headcount flat in C2007. We estimate this implies an additional organic headcount reduction in the 300-400 range (mostly in CA) over the new few Qtrs. While these heads are likely to be more spread throughout the organization (as opposed to the reduction in late 2006 focused on mid/upper management), we estimate the combination of this move together with incremental revenue from ADEX/TWAV could be accretive by as much as ~$0.25-0.30/year by C2008.

We have (earlier) tweaked estimates higher and raised our target from $63 to $65. KLAC remains our best idea for new money in C2007."
Stifel Nicolaus Analyst Says XM (XMSR) Has Merger on Their Mind
01-12-2007 09:37:12 AM
In a note to clients yesterday afternoon, Stifel Nicolaus analysts Kit Spring commented on XM Satellite Radio (Nasdaq: XMSR) after meeting with the CEO, two IR officers and several marketing managers. The firm said they believe XM is "indeed contemplating a merger w/ Sirius (Nasdaq: SIRI), perhaps due to widespread speculation that, given the synergies (we estimate a present value of $7B), it makes too much sense for Sirius not to try it."

Spring also said, "We believe a 50/50 enterprise value split or perhaps a slight premium to XM shareholders may be warranted in a merger scenario." He said the company's main reservation would be the potential disruption in the retail marketplace if consumers perceive XM as a company that is about to be taken over.

The firm maintains its Buy rating and $18 price target on XM.
