很早以前，一位朋友傳給我一個英文故事，很平凡，但卻十分感人!

[Shared Story] Two Men In The Hospital
Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room. One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs. His bed was next to the room's only window. The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back. The men talked for hours on end. They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their jobs, their involvement in the military service, where they had been on vacation. And every afternoon when the man in the bed by the window could sit up, he would pass the time by describing to his roommate all the things he could see outside the window.
The man in the other bed began to live for those one-hour periods where his world would be broadened and enlivened by all the activity and color of the world outside. The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake. Ducks and swans played on the water while children sailed their model boats. Young lovers walked arm in arm amidst flowers of every color of the rainbow. Grand old trees graced the landscape, and a fine view of the city skyline could be seen in the distance. As the man by the window described all this in exquisite detail, the man on the other side of the room would close his eyes and imagine the picturesque scene.
One warm afternoon the man by the window described a parade passing by. Although the other man couldn't hear the band - he could see it in his mind's eye as the gentleman by the window portrayed it with descriptive words. Days and weeks passed. One morning, the day nurse arrived to bring water for their baths only to find the lifeless body of the man by the window, who had died peacefully in his sleep. She was saddened and called the hospital attendants to take the body away. As soon as it seemed appropriate, the other man asked if he could be moved next to the window. The nurse was happy to make the switch, and after making sure he was comfortable, she left him alone. Slowly, painfully, he propped himself up on one elbow to take his first look at the world outside. Finally, he would have the joy of seeing it for himself. He strained to slowly turn to look out the window beside the bed. It faced a blank wall. The man asked the nurse what could have compelled his deceased roommate who had described such wonderful things outside this window. The nurse responded that the man was blind and could not even see the wall. She said "Perhaps he just wanted to encourage you."
Epilogue. . . .
There is tremendous happiness in making others happy, despite our own situations. Shared grief is half the sorrow, but happiness when shared, is doubled. If you want to feel rich, just count all of the things you have that money can't buy. "Today is a gift, that's why it is called the present."
平凡故事：住院的兩個重病人和一扇窗戶
兩位患重病的男人合住在醫院的同一個病房裏。 其中一個男人每天午後可以允許在他的床上坐起來一個小時，以便幫助排出來自他肺部的液體。 他的床緊鄰著房間裏唯一的窗戶。 另一個男病人則必須整天臥床平躺著。 於是，這兩個男人隻好在床上躺著聊天兒長達數小時之久。 他們談到他們的老婆、他們的家庭、他們的工作以及他們的服兵役經曆。每天午後，當住在靠窗戶病床的男人可以坐起來的時候, 他會對他旁邊的室友盡情地描述起他透過窗戶看到的所有新鮮事物。
躺在另一個病床上的男人，漸漸地開始依賴於這僅有的一小時的時光，他的世界也因為窗外的所有活動和景色而變得寬闊、生動起來並富有趣味。 透過窗戶能俯看一個公園，還有一個可愛的小湖。 當孩子們玩耍著他們的模型船的時候，鴨子和天鵝則在湖麵上戲水。年輕的戀人們手牽著手漫步在彩虹般的百花園之中。 壯觀的蒼天老樹則更使這風景如畫，而且望眼看去，不遠處，城市的摩天視野盡收眼底。 每逢靠窗戶的男人精細地描述著這些美麗的景象時，在房間另一邊的男人會閉上他的眼睛，在腦海裏想像著這生動的一幅幅畫麵。。。
在一個溫暖的午後，靠近窗戶的男人描述著窗外正經過的一個遊行隊伍。雖然另一個男人無法聽到樂隊聲音 －－ 然而他可以根據靠窗先生的繪聲繪色的描述，充分展開他的想像力，如同親臨現場一般。
數個星期過去了。 一天早晨，護士照舊為他們帶來了洗澡水，不料竟發現靠近窗戶的男病人的身體已經冰涼， 他已經在睡夢中平靜地死去。。。護士很悲傷，而且叫來醫院工作人員取走了屍體。 雖然剩下的另一個男人略感不適當，可是，他還是忍不住問護士他是否可以被換到靠近窗戶的床位。 護士很高興地給他換了床位，並且確定他很舒適了， 便留下他獨自一人了。他慢慢地， 痛苦地，用一個肘子支撐起身子試圖第一次了望外麵的世界，並且他為自己終於將親眼目睹外麵的世界而歡喜。 於是他艱難地緩慢地轉過來往窗戶外看去，然而，他隻見到一麵白牆。 男人問護士如何解釋他的已故室友曾經為他描述的窗外如此令人驚奇的事物？ 護士告訴了這個男人，他的已故室友原本就是個盲人，甚至連牆壁都無法看見。 她說， “也許他隻是想要鼓勵你吧 。”
結束語。 。 。 。
從這個故事中，我們得到的啟示就是不管我們自己的情形如何, 能夠使他人快樂就會給自己帶來巨大的快樂。悲傷如果被分享，悲傷則減半, 但是，當快樂被分享, 就變成了雙倍的快樂。 如果你想要感覺到富有，那麽你就細數一下你所擁有的用金錢難以買到的事物吧！“今天是一個禮物, 這就是它為什麽叫做禮物（present）。 ”
故事講完了，我由衷地敬佩那位盲人，他雖然雙目失明，可是，他一天一天地編製著美麗的故事，在他心裏蘊藏著多麽豐富多彩的世界啊！ 他把光明與希望贈與他人，他把快樂與溫暖送給他人，他有一顆金子般可貴的心靈，平凡但是偉大。。。
希望我們每一個人心裏都有一扇明亮的窗戶，永遠看到光明與希望，珍惜今天，珍惜我們所擁有的一切。“贈人玫瑰，手留餘香”，在享受愛的同時，也把愛心奉獻給這世界。。。
