Ludwig van Beethoven (baptised 17 December 1770 – 26 March 1827) was a German composer and pianist. He was a crucial figure in the transitional period between the Classical and Romantic eras in Western classical music, and remains one of the most acclaimed and influential composers of all time.

Born in Bonn, which was then capital of the Electorate of Cologne and a part of the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation in present-day Germany, he moved to Vienna in his early twenties and settled there, studying with Joseph Haydn and quickly gaining a reputation as a virtuoso pianist. His hearing began to deteriorate in the late 1790s, yet he continued to compose, and to conduct and perform, even after becoming completely deaf.

　　《小步舞曲》這一樂曲是在1796年三月，以“六首鋼琴小步舞曲”的標題所出版的小步舞曲集中的第二首。據推測，這一小步舞曲集很可能是在1795年，由原來為管弦樂隊而寫的樂曲改編而成的。本曲既可用來伴舞，又頗具欣賞性，因此二百年來久盛不衰，是通俗名曲中的精品。

　　“小步舞曲”原是流行於法國農村中的一種民間舞蹈音樂，後來逐漸進入宮廷，成為貴族舞曲。小步舞曲大多采用3/4拍子，中速，節奏平穩，風格典雅、明快、輕巧。

　　這一《 G大調小步舞曲》是在當時作者所寫的眾多小步舞曲和德國舞曲中，最著名的作品，它曾被改編成小提琴獨奏曲、弦樂四重奏曲乃至輕音樂等各種形式，並以《貝多芬小步舞曲》之名廣受聽眾的喜愛。本曲為典型的“三段體”結構，第一主題婉轉如歌，第二主題帶有活潑、跳躍的性質。（摘自網絡）
