of 15,000 NMS semi-finalist every year, 14,000 will make the finalist.

Of the 14,000 finalist, aprox. 7500 will get some scholarships, including:

2500 un-restricted scholarships of $2,500 each,  and 5000 scholarships sponsored by colleges and corporations (for the children of their employees). College scholarships typically require student to enroll. Some top schools, such as UChicago, USC, ...also offer $2,000 or more match award for NMS winners, but that's outside the program and I think some schools are retiring these offers.

 

No student can ever win BOTH the $2,500 scholarship AND college or corporate sponsored award in the program.

The unrestricted $2,500 NMS award is the top award nationawide in the NMS program.
