Love's Philosophy

The fountains mingle with the river           

And the rivers with the ocean,     

The winds of heaven mix for ever              

With a sweet emotion;  

Nothing in the world is single,     

All things by a law divine

In one another's being mingle— 

Why not I with thine?     

 

See the mountains kiss high heaven,         

And the waves clasp one another;             

No sister-flower would be forgiven          

If it disdain'd its brother;

And the sunlight clasps the earth,              

And the moonbeams kiss the sea—           

What are all these kissings worth,               

If thou kiss not me?

萬泉歸於河，

百川納於海；

縱使風起間，

也攜情美甜。

世上無孤零，

皆有神主領；

萬物均有伴，

何不爾汝攀？

 

不見峰擎天，

不見波偎漣？

若妹小覷兄，

豈能得寬容？

日光擁大地，

月光撫大海；

若爾非與吾，

空給那些吻！

 

翻譯心路：

1. 采用古體五字律句翻譯該詩，而不采用自由體是因為原詩具有嚴格的韻律：兩段，每段八行，對仗，交叉押韻等。

2. 這首詩不難理解但有些難譯，問題出在一方麵要譯成韻律詩才能跟原詩相配，才有韻味，但另一方麵，原詩基本句句對仗，就是第一段第六行例外，這就給漢譯造成了困難，因為英詩裏允許這樣，而漢詩裏不允許。在漢詩裏如果句句相對，突然有有一句不對，通篇就成了敗筆。

3. 譯文裏有好幾句都差強人意，那隻能等到日後慢慢推敲了。

4. 五個字一行太少了點，有時不夠使喚。

5.注意第一段第七行有不同版本，這裏用的是In one another's being mingle—，先前有人貼出來的好象是In one spirit meet and mingle—
