Plus Priene and Miletus. Together w/ Didyma as a long tour
We statioioned at Selcuk, from there we took a long day tour from a local operator to Priene, Miletus and Didyma. It is a classic route. An American friend self-drove this route with his family. He highly recommended to visit these ruins if one ever went to see Ephesus. We took a 9 hours long tour to visit all 3 places. Very IMPRESSIVE! It also let us witness how efficient the Turkey travel services were operated.
The group members were rounded up from different agencies, 2 couples were ABCs from Bay Area, 2 Japanese girls. an American family of 3 and us, in a 14 seats Van, with a driver and a guide. The ABCs left the group after visiting 2 spots. They were dropped off at a local travel agency where they picked up their next leg - to Antalya. The Japanese girls left at a spot where was the easiest for them to take a ferry to the Bird island. Then the American family and the tour guide left at Kusadasi, leaving only us back to Selcuk. On our way back to town, "we" picked up a Japanese young man traveling alone to Selcuk, happened to book the same pension where we were staying for 3 nights. Highly recomment the little town Selcuk, very close to Ephasus (enter from the back side before 8am you could get to The Library with pretty much the whole place to yourself). The town has an excellent museum too.
A year later after this Turkey trip when we were in the Bergamon Museum in Berlin, seeing their life-size replica of The Market Place then remembering e saw the actual ruin the year before, it was an exciting moment.
I found a sample tour departs from Izmir, on Getyourguide.
