I mean the U.S. market will become even more, not less, attractive to these aging export economies. The U.S. can and will support a larger, younger, population with a rising domestic demand, thanks to a more relaxed immigration policy that will meet a rising labor demand. Also, who is going to keep oceanic trade routes safe if and when the U.S. Navy is much more devoted to national defense? China's navy? The shipping insurance costs will shoot through the roof in no time. By then, the export economies have to pay much much more for shipping, thus losing the edge as suppliers.

One more thing, the U.S. is the major source of super-high-grade silica, without which no super-high=grade computer chips can be produced. BTW, the so-called rare earths are not really that rare, and we all know that.

As for Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan, their populations are aging too. Nevertheless, they will go on being the allies of the U.S. for defense and trade. They will be even closer to North America.
