I think you will have to go to the municipal court that has jurisdiciton in the area where they issued the ticket. They will not come to your city/county!
I got a ticket a few years back in another city and it took me tons of time to call and fax just to explain why I could not appear. And of course I had to send in a check for the ticket. If you do not go then you will default and have to pay the fine.
