新綠若金童，難留玉麵紅。

嬌花方潤雨，老葉已臨風。

春樹霜前朽，仙山夢裏終。

霞沉清晝起，逝水轉頭空。

 

Nature’s first green is gold,

Her hardest hue to hold.

Her early leaf’s a flower;

But only so an hour.

Then leaf subsides to leaf.

So Eden sank to grief,

So dawn goes down to day.

Nothing gold can stay.
