Physical GDP per capita (PGDP) is a better measure of

developped vs developping nations, better reflecting actual level of living conditions.

In 2015, China PGDP was about 65% of the US countpart and about 120% of Hong Kong! (see the CIA World Factbook website).

Another measure is annual electricity production per capita. In this regard, China is much higher than Briazil, Mexico, etc., suggesting that China has much higher development level than those so-called medium developped nations!
