7000 laid off, 110 offices closed.

The acting IRS commissioner, Doug O’Donnell, announced his plan to retire effective Feb. 28, just a few days after nearly 7,000 IRS employees were laid off, mainly in the tax enforcement and collections division. On Feb. 26, the IRS announced plans to close more than 110 offices with taxpayer assistance centers.
