Hi Professor 8: I heard EAD will get automatic extension for 180 days. If I filed I-485, and my current EAD expires when my I-485 is still pending, I will automatically get 180-day extension from the expiry date. Is that true? Assume that my current EAD is from L or H4 visa.

-If you file I-765 for renewal of your expiring EAD before it expires, then you can continue to work up to 180 days during the EAD renewal pending after the old EAD expires, but this rule just applies to certian types of EAD such as I-485 based EAD, not applies to L or H-4 EAD. See:
