If you are convicted with DV, the consequence could be very serious: the criminal record will be retained permanently, could be exported, also a limit on your ability to travel to other countries like Canada because they also check the criminal record and have inadmissibility policy accordingly.

You should consult with attoney to try to have it dismissed without pleading guilty.  If you have to plead guilty, change DV to a less serious chage like breaking peace - you should check the plea agreement that should not have any wording like DV.
