If I ask my insurance company, will they add in my record?

I think about to ask my insurance for advice but I am not sure if I ask them, they will add comment in my record (which I don't want). If I don't plan on claiming the insurance (and settle out of my pocket with cash), will that affect my record (at least they will know I ran into accident) or if they will report to DMV?
