it really depends on where you attend the college.

If the kid goes to harvard or similar college, s/he can afford time and money on 素質培養.

If the kid goes to 'regular' 2/4 year college, s/he'd better to learn as much professional skills as possible. Otherwise, 素質培養 will not translate to real job.
