中國六十歲以上的人應該都還記得“貧下中農”這個詞。中國官方的翻譯就是“poor and lower middle peasants”。

說的沒錯。 記得當時在國內學英文， “工農兵學員”一詞的英文是“workers peasants and soldiers' students，” 簡稱WPS students。 沒有貶義的意思啊。

少量土地的耕種者和勞力，教育水平低社會地位低，我覺的英文的解釋非常精準的映射在'農民'這個詞上. 在中國外來務工人員農民農民工這些人員地位有多高大家心裏都有數，工人農民資本家共產黨在中國如何排位不明白嗎？Farmer在中文的解釋裏是農場主，擁有大量土地和較高的社會地位，中國其實不存在農場主這個職業因為共產黨是不允許中國人擁有土地所有權的，連small land owner都算不上,如果是解放前farmer可以對應到地主這個定義上，現在要映射的話隻能映射到共產黨這個大地主身上

農民是中性詞，可以用farmer. 但是PEASANT 就是貶義詞。jdvance挑它來就是故意汙辱全體中國人，你這白人的舔狗滾一邊去。
