Government workers “don’t have an obligation to support restaurants downtown。
But ideas blossom and serendipitous moments produce creative work when people share common space. Workers at the Labor Department’s Boston office know that in their guts. That’s why when they protested this spring against plans to force them back to the office, they didn’t do it on Zoom. They went back to the office.
I suspect if you really work in the Silicon Valley, where teleworking is commonplace among the IT workers. There is nothing unfair about it. A lot of people are paid much higher than you. Would you think it is unfair, regardless of their physical presence, on or off campuses?
For those who would like to work from home, they should choose the type of jobs that does not require face-to-face contact with the people they serve. If you choose to be a nurse, you have to work in a hospital. However, if you choose to be a tax auditor for a government, you may not have to go to the government facilities everyday. It simply a matter of career choice. Do not feel resentful。

Almost 70% of federal employees still telework, OPM poll finds.
I wish factory workers, nurses, doctors, hotel workers can all work from home. This is very unfair that some people in some places basically get paid without every showing up.
