《Vincent》

Paint your palette blue and gray Look out on the summer’s day 你在那夏日向外遠眺 With eyes that know the darkness in my soul 用你那雙能洞悉我靈魂的雙眼 Shadows on the hills 山丘上的陰影 Sketch the trees and the daffodils Catch the breeze and the winter chills In colors on the snowy linen land Now I understand what you tried to say to me How you suffered for your sanity How you tried to set them free 你多麽努力的想讓它們得到解脫 They would not listen 但是人們卻拒絕理會 They did not know how Perhaps they’ll listen now 或許他們現在會願意聽 Starry, starry night 繁星點點的夜晚 Flaming flowers that brightly blaze 火紅的花朵明豔耀眼 Swirling clouds in violet haze 卷雲在紫色的薄靄裏飄浮 Reflect in Vincent’s eyes of china blue 映照在文森特湛藍的瞳孔中 Colors changing hue 色彩變化萬千 Morning fields of amber grain 清晨裏琥珀色的田野 Weathered faces lined in pain 滿布風霜的臉孔刻畫著痛苦 Are soothed beneath the artist’s loving hand Now I understand what you tried to say to me How you suffered for your sanity How you tried to set them free 你多麽努力的想讓它們得到解脫 They would not listen 但是人們卻拒絕理會 They did not know how Perhaps they’ll listen now 或許他們現在會願意聽 For they could not love you 因為他們當時無法愛你 But still your love was true And when no hope was left in sight On that starry, starry night You took your life as lovers often do But I could have told you, Vincent This world was never meant for one 這個世界根本配不上 As beautiful as you 像你如此美好的一個人 Starry, starry night 繁星點點的夜晚 Portraits hung in empty halls 空曠的大廳裏掛這一幅幅畫像 Frameless heads on nameless walls 無框的臉孔倚靠在無名的壁上 With eyes that watch the world and can’t forget Like the strangers that you’ve met The ragged men in ragged clothes The silver thorn of bloody rose Lie crush and broken on the virgin snow Now I think I know what you tried to say to me How you suffered for your sanity How you tried to set them free 你多麽努力的想讓它們得到解脫 They would not listen 但是人們卻拒絕理會 They’re not listening still 他們依然沒有在傾聽 Perhaps they never will 或許他們永遠也不會理解

David Roth

Starry, starry night Paint your palette blue and gray Look out on a summer's day With eyes that know the darkness in my soul Shadows on the hills Sketch the trees and the daffodils Catch the breeze and the winter chills In colors on the snowy, linen land Now, I understand what you tried to say to me And how you suffered for your sanity And how you tried to set them free They would not listen, they did not know how Perhaps they'll listen now Starry, starry night Flaming flowers that brightly blaze Swirling clouds in violet haze Reflect in Vincent's eyes of china blue Colors changing hue Morning fields of amber grain Weathered faces lined in pain Are soothed beneath the artist's loving hand Now, I understand, what you tried to say to me How you suffered for your sanity How you tried to set them free They would not listen, they did not know how Perhaps they'll listen now For they could not love you But still your love was true And when no hope was left inside On that starry, starry night You took your life as lovers often do But I could have told you, Vincent This world was never meant for one As beautiful as you Starry, starry night Portraits hung in empty halls Frameless heads on nameless walls With eyes that watch the world and can't forget Like the strangers that you've met The ragged men in ragged clothes The silver thorn of bloody rose Lie crushed and broken on the virgin snow Now, I think I know what you tried to say to me How you suffered for your sanity How you tried to set them free They would not listen, they're not listening still Perhaps they never will
