Eat & Run does more than telling a great story. Like many
other good books, it encourages the reader to act. I
particularly like the vegan recipes as I already mastered
two or three dishes (my own versions, of course) and now am
planning to try some of the others. It also gave practical
advices on distance running. Neither the recipes or the
advices can come at a better time for me as I just started
to run some meaningful miles in August. What's better than
learning what works from the champion?

Jurek's sufferings have enriched his life and were the
source of his strength and the story is not told in the
one-dimensional "success" style so popular these days. This
one invokes more feelings and thoughts in me than awe,
admiration, etc., toward the ultra runner. Maybe it's just
my age, but it's humbling to realize that, after all the
talents, sufferings, sacrifices, and searching for meaning,
the race of life may not be to the swift. If that's true for
Scott Jurek, the rest of us are cooked :-)
