In my writing there were a lot of things I didn't say - a test to see if any readers picked up what I tried to tell, a way to see if my writing of "showing" got across to the readers. You suprised me by "telling" me what I tried to "show." Bingo! You're such a thinking reader, a reward to a writer! What a joy to be told by a reader who got what a writer tried to convene. Thanks!
??????(2013-11-19 07:20)??Sociobiology by Spee Kosloff Sociobiology is an approach to studying the biological bases of social behavior that focuses on applying evolutionary theory and the principles of genetics to explain specific instances of social behavior in a wide variety of species. John P. Scott coined the term sociobiology in 1948, but it was not until 1964 that William Hamilton laid the theoretical foundations of the field. Hamilton introduced the idea that, in the evolution of species, the transmission of genes from one generation to the next matters much more than any individual organism's success in survival and reproduction. ??????(2013-11-19 07:15)??Thank you for pointing it out. I checked. At least, two sources are as follows: 1). sociobiology noun (Concise Encyclopedia): First Known Use of SOCIOBIOLOGY: 1946 Systematic study of the biological basis of social behaviour. The concept was popularized by Edward O. Wilson in his Sociobiology (1975) and by Richard Dawkins (b. 1941) in The Selfish Gene (1976). Sociobiology attempts to understand and explain animal (and human) social behaviour in the light of natural selection and other biological processes. A central tenet is that the transmission of genes through successful reproduction is the central motivator in animals' struggle for survival, and that animals will behave in ways that maximize their chances of transmitting their genes to succeeding generations. Though sociobiology has contributed insights into animal behaviour (such as altruism in social insects and male-female differences in certain species), it remains controversial when applied to human social behaviour. See also ethology. (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/sociobiology) 2). ???????????????????•P•?????946????????????????"While the term "sociobiology" can be traced to the 1940s, the concept didn't gain major recognition until 1975 with the publication of Edward O. Wilson's book, Sociobiology: The New Synthesis. The new field quickly became the subject of heated controversy. Criticism, most notably made by Richard Lewontin and Stephen Jay Gould, centered on sociobiology's contention that genes play an ultimate role in human behavior and that traits such as aggressiveness can be explained by biology rather than a person's social environment. Sociobiologists generally responded to the criticism by pointing to the complex relationship between nature and nurture. In response to some of the potentially factious implications sociobiology had for human biodiversity[citation needed], anthropologist John Tooby and psychologist Leda Cosmides founded the field of evolutionary psychology." You're right - Wilson did not say this term; however, I got it from an English article.
