Between 1820s and 1920s, industrialization and urbanization, fueled by colonization and accompanied by population explosion in Europe, pushed 40 million Europeans out of Europe and migrated to the New World, where the natives/Indians were largely removed to reservations.

Rapid urbanization in the US lasted until around the 1950s, when the direction was reversed: over-urbanization seemed doomed to be followed by suburbanization. When cities become jammed up and choked by modern hazards, deindustrialization is inevitable. Deindustrialization eventually brought down many of the used-to-be prosperous cities in the United States.

What a waste of the resources and damage to the environment, don’t you think, every time when you look at those abandoned buildings in those run-down ghetto areas in many of the big cities?

千噸萬噸的水泥
壓在大地的胸膛
大地喘著粗氣

比水泥更沉更重的,是何物 / 誰?
是什麽在驅使我們,讓人性
壓彎了腰背?

寸土寸金
買不起的空想
買得起的空置

何當為物所累?
何當為人所累?
何當為心所累?

朋友,當我們
穿行其中
是否也如大地一樣
感覺到窒息?
