事情是這樣的，2010年1月7號，國務卿希拉裏·克林頓(Hillary Clinton)在國務院請吃飯。這是一場小規模的晚宴，規模雖小，來客卻都是通訊科技界的重量級人物。客人名單上有穀歌首席執行官埃裏克·施密特(Eric Schmidt)、Twitter聯合創始人傑克·多爾西(Jack Dorsey)、微軟首席研究與戰略官克瑞格·蒙迪(Craig Mundie)，以及Mobile Accord CEO James Eberhard, Cisco CMO Susan Bostron, NYU Professor Clay Shirky, Personal Democracy founder Andrew Rasiej等。
晚飯吃了兩個小時，希拉裏跟大夥兒邊吃邊聊，聊些什麽內容呢？俺不翻譯了，自己看吧：

2. Finding creative ways to ensure that Internet access is always freely available 3. Building better public-private partnerships and making it easier for start-ups that have great ideas to be able to present them more effectively to the U.S. government 4. Ensuring we can better communicate leveraging language translation tools 5. Discovering ways to train people -- especially those who are new to the online world -- how to use all these tools effectively 6. Leveraging the mobile channel for anonymous crime reporting for greater transparency
總之的總之，俺個人的理解，這些巨頭要聯手搞一項新技術，保證地球人可以不受當地政府控製自由上網啥的。搞不好這個秘密武器已經研究得差不多了呢。反正這頓飯一吃，沒過幾天，穀歌就豁出去發聲明了，嗬嗬。
據說1月21日國務卿希拉裏將公布一項科技新政策。大家拭目以待吧。
