【夏日旅遊分享】Alaska! Alaska! - Whittier, a neat little port

To save us some driving, we chose to take the ferry to cross the Prince William Sound and that took us to a neat little port named Whittier. Whittier had a tiny population of 177 as of 2006, but still it was clean and comfortable.

Knowing how tiny its population was, the number of boats in its harbor looked rather respectable. See the first photo below.

To appreciate why I keep saying that Whittier is neat, one only needs to look at the second and third photos below of a seafood restaurant. A quick question: what are the differences between these two photos?

Finally, we saw a plaque there with the poem "Do Not Stand At My Grave And Weep" on it, remembering their people lost in the pristine waters. Interestingly, on this 1998 plaque, the poem was attributed to the Michoh Indians. Wikipedia, however, unequivocally attributes the poem to Mary Elizabeth Frye and indicates the authorship was established also in 1998. Isn't that interesting? Moreover, in the same month we went there, Sportwoman also posted and translated this poem on this forum. See here for her original post. <bbs.wenxuecity.com/mysj/190696.html> Surely this can't simply be coincidence!
